KETM :: Kill Everything That Moves
Gigadeath Genocide
KETM is a sprite based top scrolling shooter(shmups or twitch) for Mac OSX, Linux and Windows that uses an original combat system desgined just for this title. This system takes the manic shooter approach up a notch and will hopefully make even the most skilled of shmup masters break a sweat ^_-
There are presently 4 stages designed and there may be one more added when we ship the game. We are also presently securing the soundtrack. Expect something very fast and not electronic.
KETM was initiated after a chance meeting on the shmups message boards. We began in late 2001 with Walter Haslebeck helming the programming duties and Jon Chang providing the art and animation. In 2003, Markus Eslitzbichler took over duties as programmer and that's when things really started to roll.
So check out what we've got posted for now and read the blog! ^_^ Happy shmuping!!
KETM :: Plot
Begin of packet// arrival date: Fri Jan 7 04:36:45 2673
From. Deputy Director, Aegis Development Board
To. Aegis Exoborne Platoon
The nation-state of Sigil on the planet Ameth, after falling out of contact for almost a decade, has remerged as a hostile power and attacked a Federal Aegis non-combatant development group in the Aleph Epsilon cluster.
Before they were wiped, the engineers managed to relay some of the transmissions broadcast by the attacking Sigil troops.
Welcome to the host, embrace our light.
This is the communion,
This is your rapture.
The recordings indicate the Sigil nation-state has gone xenophobic as well as theocratic.
By attacking unarmed representatives of the Federal Aegis, the nation-state of Sigil is now subject to clause 36-18 of the Aegis Exo-Planetary Development Charter and has been classified as a rogue nation-state targeted for suprression. Under the conditions of 36-18, you are ordered to procede to Ameth and depopulate the planet without exception. Leave nothing standing. Not one shred of their culture.
Kill everything that moves.
KETM :: Combat System
The player craft is the latest and greatest piece of ultra tech in the Federal Aegis arsenal, the Exohawk. The Exohawk can operate in vacuum as well as atmosphere and in both normal and hazardous(i.e. nuclear or toxic) environments. The Exohawk is loaded for bear with an assortment of "dumb" gatling weapons, "smart" rifle darts and ECM to confuse enemy "smart" rounds.
Bosses in KETM will hunt you down throughout the course of the game, staying your tail until you either clear an area or the bosses self destruct from overheating/damage. There are no rear weapons on the Exohawk so you'll have to think of other ways to inflict damage on pursuing hostiles.
The only hope is to fight to the center of the Sigil Empire and eliminate the AI that controls the planet-core tap, which powers the entire nation of Sigil. A disruption in this feed should be enough to drive the planet to critical mass, and considering the amount of gigadeath weapons stockpiled on Ameth, the resulting explosion should eliminate all life within the immediate vacinity.
KETM :: Bosses
The bosses of KETM fill the screen at all times during the course of the game. As soon as you are picked up on their radar nets the Sigil will dispatch every weapon in their arsenal to track you down and kill you. Expect a heavy concentartion of smaller fighters as well as smart weapons to accompany any boss craft you encounter.
The army of the Sigil constructed several gigadeath war machines with the sole purpose of imposing their God on others via force. Controlled by zealots hardwired into the actual machines, the Sigil war machines are equipped with ablative armor hulls, several meters thick, and a vast array of projectile and plasma weapons. They are nearly invinsible. To call them formidable would be beyond an understatement.
A single Exohawk fighter couldn't possibly carry enough of a payload to even slow one of these craft down, let alone kill it. When confronted by a "boss"...run. There is no hope of beating these ogres head-on.
Sigil tactics at Aleph Epsilon suggest they will swarm from every possible direction. Fight through the swarms of smaller craft and evade the bosses as long as possible. The only hope is to escape to the next area before their projectile screen takes you out.
Evade, kill and survive.
Un shooter, par Markus Eslitzbichler.
KETM (pour "Kill Everything That Moves") est un petit shoot them up spatial rappelant Raptor, Tyrian ou encore Galaga.

🍥️ Debian:
